Maria
has brittle diabetes, is blind, and has neuropathy. This led
to a tibia fracture that failed to heal and deformed. She was
unable to walk.
We applied a frame and gradually distracted through the stiff
nonunion to correct the deformity. Maria did her own frame adjustments.
Surgical exposure of the nonunion and bone grafting was not
needed.
This
was fully healed by 4.5 months and Maria and Henry resumed their
active schedule.
